The Yogasutra is considered by teachers and students of Yoga as the foundational text on yoga philosophy that offers a valid basis not only for the practice and application of the various tools of yoga, but also offers us much needed insights about living life with clarity and a sense of focus. KYM announces a Yogasutra immersion class at its Mandaveli premises, focusing on offering students a detailed overview of the Yogasutra, while also exploring, where feasible, relevant references from related texts such as the Bhagavadgita, Taittiriya Upanisad, Hathayoga-pradipika, Yajnavalkya Samhita, Chandogya Upanisad, Prasnopanisad and so on. While sutra study is an essential part of KYM’s teacher training programme, there are always request from our students who want to delve into yoga philosophy for their own personal enquiry, without having to participate in a teacher-training intensive. This course is designed in such a way that it would be of relevance to those who have done some Yogasutra studies, but would like to deepen their understanding of key concepts and also for those who are studying yoga philosophy for the first time. While using essential comments/observations on various concepts from the traditional commentaries on the Yogasutra, this Sutra study course will primarily highlight Sri T Krishnamacharya’s insights on the Yogasutra and incorporate unique teaching methodology elements as presented by Sri TKV Desikachar.
This course will be anchored by Ms. Nrithya Jagannathan, senior faculty member, Department of Yoga Studies.
