At the very heart of Yoga practice and application of Yogic tools, lies the timeless teachings of Patañjali in the Yogasūtra. With every Sūtra offering so much scope for contemplation, the text itself is a valuable treatise on the workings of the human mind and the necessity for mental and emotional hygiene, above all else. The Yogasūtra was also the foundation upon which both Śrī T Krishnamacharya and Śrī TKV Desikachar built up their teachings, and a study of the Yogasūtra can be an insightful and transformative experience for Yoga enthusiasts and others as well. KYM announces a four-part webinar series, “Sūtra Sojourns,” with the intention of delving into the Yogasūtra, through the teachings of Śrī T Krishnamacharya and Śrī Desikachar, while also drawing upon the commentaries of Vyāsa and other sub commentaries, including references from Śrī T Krishnamacharya’s Yogavallī and also from Śrī TKV Desikachar’s lectures. Where necessary, cross references to other texts such as Taittirīya Upaniṣad, Praśna Upaniṣad, Chāndogya Upaniṣad, Bhagavadgītā, Haṭha-yoga-pradīpikā Yoga-yajñavālkya-saṁhita, Yoga Rahasya, Yogañjalisāram and Dhyānamālika will be made. This webinar series will be anchored by senior KYM faculty, Nrithya Jagannathan.
The dates mentioned for Chapter III & IV webinar lectures are tentative and could be subject to minor changes.
