Among the compositions of the Śrī Vaiṣṇava Ālvārs, the Mukundamāla of Śrī Kulaśekara Ālvār stands out, for it is possibly the only composition from the Ālvār tradition in Saṁskṛtam. As the name of the composition indicates, this is a garland of verses dedicated to Mukunda, one of the forms of Bhagavān Viṣṇu, believed to be the one who redeems us of our Kārmic burdens, leading  us towards the highest goal of Mukti.

A very beautiful composition, very suited for invoking and visualising the divine, the Mukundamāla is known for its lyrical beauty and the imagery of Mahāviṣṇu, specifically, Śrī Raṅganātha of Śrīraṅgam that it brings to eye the devotee.

As a prelude to the Śrī Kṛṣṇa Jayantī which falls on 6th September 2023, the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram is happy to bring to you a meditation integrated learning experience of the Mukundamāla. In this programme which will be conducted at the KYM Mandaveli premises, participants will be taught to chant the Mukundamāla, followed by meditative practices, focusing on the specific aspects of this very beautiful composition.
