The lotus which is one of the symbols associated with Nārāyaṇa represents the ability of the mind to reach perfection through Sādhana, inspite of being rooted in the material world. It is this transcendence of the ordinary that is the subtle purpose of Yoga.
Śrī T Krishnamacharya, a master of Yoga, legendary for his role in reviving and restoring Yoga to its previously acclaimed status, was at heart a fervent Bhakta, an unwavering devotee of Nārāyaṇa. His Vedantic anchoring deeply influenced his teachings, but he was nevertheless an open and broad-minded teacher who encouraged his students to find and seek their own personal Nārāyaṇa – in themselves.
The Department of Healing Chants of KYM offers a 7-month long immersion into a variety of chants addressed to Nārāyaṇa, in his many forms, also attempting to explore the underlying significance of these chants as powerful contributors to physiological, cognitive and emotional well-being with a meditative practice that focuses on the light within.
Classes will be held on every Ekadaśi (dates given above) from 5 PM to 6 PM. Every session will have a brief meditative practice on the core ideas.
Chants to be covered:
