Krishnamacharya
was a firm believer in the therapeutic and healing potential of Yoga.
He made it his life's work to heal people by adapting yoga to suit their
individual needs and thus maximising the benefits they derived from
it. It is little wonder then that therapy(cikitsa) constitutes one of
the most vital components in the KYM's agenda of activities.
Here the teaching is done on an
individual basis. The student approaches the KYM for an appointment
with a consultant. Appoinments
can be fixed in writing, either through post or email, fax, on telephone
or in person.
The consultant meets the student
and assesses his/her requirements, magnitude of the problem for which
therapy is sought, and the course that would be best suited to that
individual.
The student is then directed to
one of the KYM's faculty, who guides the practice based on the consultant's
directions. The course given by the teacher is constantly monitored
by senior teachers of the KYM, to ensure utmost benefit to the student.
The consultant's suggestions and
the course taught by the teachers respect the individuality of each
student.
