Pranayama
- From Introduction to Deeper Implications 1st to 12th March
2010
The Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram announces a two-week international
program, with specific focus on the deeper aspects of Pranayama,
one of the most powerful tools of yoga. Several classical
texts emphasize the important of the practice of Pranayama.
In fact, these texts state that the practice of yoga will
be complete only with Pranayama.
Yogacharya Krishnamacharya’s teachings give special importance
to the regulation of breath. While the practice of classical
postures is no doubt beneficial, what will further enhance
the quality of one’s practice is the integration of movement
with breath in a mindful manner. Pranayama is the foundation
for meditation, in view of the close relationship between
mind and breath.
This two-week program presents in detail, the theory and
practice of Pranayama starting from the basic definition
of Pranayama and moving on to the deeper and more profound
implications of Pranayama, and the practice of the Bandha-s.
An understanding of Pranayama and how it works will be extremely
beneficial for all yoga teachers and students.
