A Return to the Source – Exploring the Hymns of Creation

A Two-Week Vedic Chant Intensive

Since time immemorial, one question has governed the lives of all human beings who look beyond a life of material pursuits to a more transcendental quest to discover the true nature of the Self – Where do we come from? What is that one source from which all the universe evolves from and devolves into?

The Veda-s have several references to the source of the universe. These hymns present profound metaphysical concepts of creation, which have today been ratified by modern science. Central to the creation of the universe is the Cosmic Self, the Parabrahman, also referred to as the Purusa. The Cosmic Brahman is formless and featureless, known by its inherent qualities - sat (that is is Reality), cit (that it is Conscioust), jnana ( that it is primal wisdom) and ananda ( that it is ever permeated by bliss).

This Vedic chant intensive takes the participant on a spiritual sojourn that traces the very roots of our existence. The evocative imagery and powerful metaphors delineate din these chants in themselves are a connoisseur’s delight. The resonance of the chants in themselves can transport one to a transcendental state in which it is easier to comprehend with our limited human intellect the vastness that is the Brahman.

Prior knowledge of Vedic Chanting, while helpful, is not essential to participate in this programme. Prior knowledge of Sanskrit is also not essential as participants will be given practice sheets in English following standard Roman transliteration.
